LuxGuard rubber flooring for sheds and portable buildings

LuxGuard makes rubber flooring for the shed industry, out of Hamptonville, North Carolina. The company's pitch to builders is simple: put a durable, easy-to-clean floor in the building and you raise its value and your customer's satisfaction with it. The line on the LuxGuard website reads "Build Sheds that Last a Lifetime: Invest in Rubber Flooring," and the product was developed by people who build sheds for a living.

What the flooring is made of

LuxGuard is a textured rubber floor with a fiberglass backing. The company breaks the technology into three parts: fiberglass backing for adhesion, flexibility tuned for application, and a texture designed for durability. That combination is aimed at the abuse a shed floor actually takes. In LuxGuard's own words: "Trucks? Forklifts? Mowers? No problem."

LuxGuard sums up the product in three words:

• Durable. Strong, textured rubber with fiberglass backing, built in the company's words to take trucks, forklifts and mowers.
• Clean. The floor is impermeable, so an oil, grease or water spill wipes up without solvents.
• Adaptable. LuxGuard started in buildings, and the company says the floor is flexible enough for any application.

The free sample page adds the benefits builders tend to ask about first: premium quality, seamless applications, slip resistance, easy maintenance and durability. In November 2019, Shed Business Journal reported that LuxGuard was sold in rolls 10, 12 and 14 feet wide, in grey and black. The article also said LuxGuard sells to dealers and builders rather than directly to consumers, and ships its own installation tools with every sale. Keeping it clean

LuxGuard publishes its own care routine, and it's short:

• Daily. Sweep up dust, dirt and debris, or use a vacuum or microfiber mop. Mop up spills right away with a clean rag or sponge so they don't stain.
• Routine cleaning. Mop with ten parts water to one part soap, then soak up the extra water with a dry rag or mop.
• Grease and oil. Wipe the spill with a dry rag, spray what's left with a small amount of degreaser, wipe again, and repeat until it's gone.
• Tough dirt. Spray a little bleach or stain remover on the spot, scrub it with a stiff bristle brush, and wipe it clean with a dry rag.

LuxGuard's stated mission is to provide high-quality, durable rubber flooring that meets its customers' needs, and it says it aims to build long-term partnerships with them based on trust, reliability and quality.

Built by builders

The company says it plainly: "LuxGuard was created by builders for builders. We wanted premium flooring with added value for our customers." Its stated vision is to become the go-to provider of rubber flooring for the shed, garage and industrial sectors. Ben Higdon, who joined Shannon on the podcast, described himself as the manufacturing side of the brand. He said he's been blessed to work with some guys in the shed industry to develop LuxGuard, and that the flooring went through about three years of development before the first piece came off a tool.
